Massawepie Camp Staff
Massawepie has a 50-year tradition of outstanding staff! Massawepie staff members work surrounded by the natural splendor of the Adirondacks. They enjoy the lakes, cool mountain air, and awesome night sky. More importantly, a Massawepie staff member has the opportunity to provide the Scouts and leaders who pass through the gates of our camp the best camping experience imaginable. Staff are able to demonstrate responsibility, character, and leadership that is unmatched by most summer jobs, and become an integral part of an amazing team. Former Staff members, please see Alumni information below.
Staff Qualifications
Massawepie staff must be at least 15 years old on or before July 1. They must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America prior to working at camp. Staff members must meet high standards of ability, interest, and moral conduct, as established by investigation of references. All staff members must report in time for staff training and stay through the entire season. They should be willing to work as a member of the camp team, and have a real concern for the positive development of young people. Staff members are expected to live up to the Scout Oath and Law.

Counselors-in-Training (CITs)
CITs are Scouts ages 14-15 who stay at camp for three weeks, receive valuable staff training, and participate in unique Scouting events. They must be Boy Scouts who are at least First Class, or active Venturers or Varsity team members. CITs experience assignments in different phases of the camp operation. Preference in selecting camp staff in future years will be given to successful graduates of the CIT program. CITs receive free training, room and board, and health and accident insurance, but no additional pay. They are responsible for their own uniforms and spending money. To apply for a CIT position, complete and return a CIT Application (available for download on the Resources page). You will be contacted for an interview.
